While adding your site to generic business directories will likely gain a few extra links, they’re unlikely to be super-relevant (which is a big deciding factor in Googles algorithm when it comes to the evaluating the value of a link).
By adding your site to niche-specific – or even location-specific – directories, you’ll not only be able to get a few extra links, but also links with greater relevancy.

- Find niche-specific directories
- Submit your site
Finding niche-specific directories can be done easily with a couple of Google search operators, including:
Note: If you’re looking for location-specific directories, simply replace [INDUSTRY NAME] with [LOCATION NAME]:
You should now see a tonne of relevant directories in the search results:
Next, visit each of these sites one-by-one and – if they’re relevant to your site (and not super spammy) – add your site; this is usually done via a “add your site” or “submit listing” button located somewhere on the page.
Fill out your information (making sure to include your website URL) and click submit.
