Universities and colleges often have “visitor services” pages.
Here’s an example:
These pages typically list establishments in the local area that may be useful for visitors and tourists.
Local businesses can often grab a high-authority link from these pages, as long as the universities are relatively local to their brick and mortar location.
Here’s how to do it:
- List universities and colleges in your local area (approx. 10-mile radius)
- Check if they have a “visitor resources” page
- Double-check that they link out to other local businesses
- Reach out and ask for a link
When you have your list, check if they have a “visitor services” page using these Google search operators:
Check out any results and see if they’re linking out to businesses in the local area.
If they do, send the university an email and ask if they’d consider adding your business to the page.
Here’s an email template to use:
I’m [YOUR NAME], [POSITION] at [WEBSITE].
I just came across your “visitor resources” page and would like to request an addition.
We’re a [COMPANY TYPE], we’re based in the local area, and I think we’d make a useful addition to the page.
Let me know if this is possible and if so, anything I can do to help.
